TRINITY'S POLICY MAKER BREAKFAST SERIES ANNOUNCES NEW SPEAKER FOR OCT. 4 EVENT -- FORMER SECRETARY OF DEFENSE WILLIAM COHEN

William CohenSept. 27, 2001 – William Cohen, secretary of defense during the Clinton administration, will be the first speaker of Trinity University's 2001-02 Policy Maker Breakfast Series. Mr. Cohen will speak in place of scheduled guest Roger Cossack, CNN legal analyst and co-host of the program Burden of Proof, who is unable to attend due to the network's continuing coverage of the attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon.  The Policy Maker Breakfast will take place at 7:30 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 4, at the DoubleTree Hotel's Tamayo Ballroom, located at 37 NE Loop 410.  Tickets for the breakfast are $35 and must be purchased by Oct. 1.  For reservations, call the office of Conferences and Special Programs at (210) 999-7601.

After serving 24 years in both the U.S. House of Representatives and Senate, Mr. Cohen  became the Secretary of Defense and the only Republican in the Clinton administration. During his tenure, he guided the U.S. military through campaigns in Kosovo and the Persian Gulf.  He was instrumental in extending the NATO alliance and helping to ensure greater global stability.
