LEADER OF INTER-FAITH GROUP TO QUESTION AMERICA’S ROLE IN BRINGING PEACE TO THE MIDDLE EAST

March 15, 2002  – The leader of an inter-faith group established to stop the violence in Israel will speak on America’s role in the process.  Ronald J. Young, executive director of the U.S. Interreligious Committee for Peace in the Middle East, will present “Possibilities for Peace in the Middle East: Is the U.S. Helping or Hurting the Situation?”  The event will take place at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 19, in Trinity’s Chapman Auditorium.  It is free and open to the public.

The U.S. Interreligious Committee for Peace in the Middle East was organized in 1987 and now represents 2,500 American Jews, Christians, and Muslims. The committee conducts programs across the country to spur dialogue, education, and advocacy in support of active U.S. policies to encourage lasting peace to the Middle East.  Mr. Young is the founder and director of the organization.  He is the author of the book Missed Opportunities for Peace: U.S. Middle East Policy 1981-86.
