| Trinity Professor Appointed Vice President of Texas Photographic Society |

Established in 1985, the Texas Photographic Society (TPS) is a non-profit organization of amateur and professional photographers dedicated to supporting contemporary photography as a means for creative expression and cultural insight. TPS includes more than 800 members from 30 states and four countries. Professor Simonite received her bachelor's in fine arts, summa cum laude, from the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) in 1984. She received her master's in fine arts from UTSA in 1987. She first came to Trinity as an adjunct faculty member in 1993. In 1999, she was appointed the Lennox Visiting Artist in the art department for the academic year. In 2000, she was hired as an assistant professor. Professor Simonite's photographic work has been shown in numerous exhibitions both here and around the world. Most recently, she had a solo exhibit titled “Images of Ios: Cycladic Form,” sponsored by the Municipality of Ios Island, Ios, Cyclades, Greece. In 2001, her work was included in an international traveling exhibition titled “10eme Rencontres Photographiques REGARDS,” from La Salle Haute, Mas del Padri, Villeneuve de la Riviere, Perpigan, France. In 2000, her work appeared in an exhibit titled “Itinerances,” at the International Photography Festival in Aries, France. Along with her membership in the Texas Photographic Society, Professor Simonite belongs to the Texas Fine Art Association, the Society for Photographic Education, and the Blue Star Contemporary Art Space.
