SOUTHCOM Commander to Speak at Trinity University |

General Hill, who graduated from Trinity in 1968, will speak about the security challenges in Latin America and the Caribbean. As commander of the Southern Command, he is responsible for all U.S. military activities in 32 countries in Central and South America and in the Caribbean. The luncheon, which is open to the public, will be at the Great Hall in the Chapman Center. Tickets are $12, and seating is limited. Bush nominated General Hill for his fourth star in 2002, and he assumed the leadership position at SOUTHCOM last summer. Previously, he was commanding general of I Corps at Fort Lewis, Wash. Before that command, he served more than two years as commanding general of the 25th Infantry Division in Hawaii and for two years was director of operations for U.S. Army Forces Command at Fort McPherson, Ga. He also served in Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm in Saudi Arabia and in Vietnam. General Hill was commissioned as an infantry officer in November 1968. |
