Noted Stage Director to Discuss Evolution of His Artistic Career

Oct.  23, 2002 – Sabin Epstein, one of America’s leading stage directors of classical drama, will discuss his continuing artistic development and how it relates to acting, directing, and the making of theater in a presentation titled “An Evening with Sabin Epstein.” The event will take place at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 3, in the Stieren Theater. The event is part of Trinity’s Stieren Arts Enrichment Series and is free and open to the public.

Mr. Epstein is the longtime director of San Francisco’s American Conservatory Theatre.  He has directed productions at Shakespeare festivals in Oregon, Georgia, Alabama, and Utah. His work has also been seen in productions at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., the California Institute for the Arts in Los Angeles, and the San Diego Repertory Theatre.

A master teacher of acting and period style, he is the author, with John Harrop, of   Acting with Style, considered the definitive book on the subject.

In addition to his presentation, Mr. Epstein will be at Trinity to direct a student production of the classic 18th-century English comedy The School for Scandal. The production will be staged Nov. 15 through Nov. 23.
