Trinity's Student Newspaper Wins Top
Honors from National Organization

April 20, 2001 — The Trinitonian, Trinity's weekly student newspaper, has been selected as a first-place award-winner by the American Scholastic Press Association (ASPA).  In addition to this prestigious designation, the Trinitonian has been selected to receive the honor of "special merit" for the second out of three years, because of the outstanding content and design of the publication.  Only 12 colleges and universities across the nation have been designated with this honor, the highest honor given by the ASPA.

The Trinitonian was judged by the ASPA in the areas of content coverage, page design, editing, creativity, art and advertising.  In order to receive a designation of "First Place with Special Merit," the Trinitonian had to win at least 900 of 1,000 possible points based on a comprehensive evaluation, and was an outstanding example in format, content and presentation in the opinion of the judge.  The Trinitonian staff for 2001-2002 is led by Katherine Plog '02, editor; Dayna Ahrens '01, managing editor; and Jennie Roberts '01, advertising director.
