Trinity Communication Students Win National Media Award |
| June 13, 2003 – Jayme Rutledge of Sunnyvale, Texas and Jordan A. Williams of Beaumont, Texas have won second place in the Student Radio Newscast Competition at the Broadcast Education Association’s Media Arts Festival. Ms. Rutledge and Mr. Williams won the national award for their coverage of the Sept. 11 tragedy. Their newscast aired on KRTU-FM, the student-run radio station of Trinity University, where both students worked as co-producers and co-anchors. Ms. Rutledge also served as the news director for KRTU-FM. In addition to the media award, Ms. Rutledge received the Outstanding Junior Award from the department of communication at Trinity. Mr. Williams received the Outstanding Senior Award from the communication department as well as the Ballard Pipe Organ prize from the department of music. Mr. Williams graduated this spring, cum laude, with a bachelor’s degree in communication. Trinity University is a nationally recognized liberal arts and sciences
