Founder and President of Habitat For Humanity International to Discuss The Challenges of Providing Affordable Housing

Sept. 25, 2002 – Millard Fuller, the founder and president of Habitat for Humanity International, the non-profit housing organization, will speak on the challenges of providing affordable housing during a lecture at Trinity University.  Mr. Fuller will give his presentation at 7 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 14,  in the Chapman Center Auditorium.  The event is free and open to the public.

Mr. Fuller is expected to address the issue of affordable housing in today’s economy and the numerous works and projects Habitat for Humanity International is currently undertaking in San Antonio, surrounding areas, and all over the world.

A former millionaire who gave away his fortune to serve the poor, Mr. Fuller founded Habitat for Humanity International in 1976 in Americus, Ga. His leadership has turned the organization into a worldwide ministry that has fought the battle to provide low-income housing. Hundreds of thousands of Habitat volunteers have worked with more than 70,000 families to build affordable homes in the United States and in more than 50 other countries.

Stephen Nickle, Trinity University chaplain, has described Mr. Fuller as “an invigorating and inspiring speaker.” The event is part of the chapel’s Willson Lecture Series.  For more information, call the Margarite B. Parker Chapel at (210) 999-7311.
