The team of Julia Holland, Isabel Longoria, Christopher Park, and Andrew Batters imagined a “home as battery” project that was rich in both metaphor and visual detail.

This team’s design featured a multi-generational home that combines the traditional single-family residence with comprehensive energy-saving designs. “The home is acting as a battery, not only for itself, but for the community as well,” Ms. Drennan said.

Said Ms. Longoria, “[Sustainability] is about understanding that waste and excess are practices we can no longer continue.
