CosmoGIRL! Names Trinity University as one of
“50 Best Colleges” in 2006 College Guide

November, 2006

SAN ANTONIO – CosmoGIRL! magazine has named Trinity University as one of the “50 Best Colleges” in its 2006 college guide issue based on criteria important to young women. This was the second annual college guide published by CosmoGIRL! and Trinity was included in both editions.

According to the magazine, the final list of the top 50 coed colleges for CosmoGIRL! was based on data supplied by The Princeton Review, CosmoGIRL! survey responses, and the perspectives of college experts.

The Princeton Review helped CosmoGIRL! select the highest-scoring schools from more than 600 U.S. colleges and universities.  Much of the data supplied by The Princeton Review came from responses given by 78,000 female college students on their opinions on the quality of the college they were attending. Key factors in measuring the quality of a college included campus safety, recreational/athletic facilities, average class size, average lab size, student friendliness, degree of social and ethnic diversity on campus, city or town suitability, individual student happiness, and the quality of professor instruction.

The rest of the data, acquired directly from the schools, was based on several factors, including health services, computer network access in dorm rooms, above-average number of women's varsity sports teams, internships as special study options, honors programs, and financial aid.

In addition, CosmoGIRL! included a section titled “Campus Awards,” where the magazine named schools that deserved special recognition. The magazine highlighted Trinity for having the “Nicest Dorms.”
“Trinity University has dorms with large closets, built-in desks, and cable TV access,” stated the magazine. “Some suites even have private balconies that overlook the San Antonio skyline.”
