Late Night Breakfast

Staff from Residential Life and Student Affairs and other Trinity staffers helped students survive winter finals with a Late Night Breakfast in December. More than 500 students answered the invitation for a midnight break from the books with free food served by staffers who worked late into the wee hours.

Among those serving at the Late Night Breakfast are, back row from left, Jerry Ferguson, director of the Tiger Card Office, as Santa; David Tuttle, dean of students and director of Residential Life; Wanda Olson, associate director of Residential Life; and Katie Kanady, Residential Life coordinator. Pictured in middle row are Lisa Chapa, senior secretary in Residential Life; and Katie Storey, assistant director of Residential Life. Kneeling are Residential Life coordinators Josh Brack and Virginia Fraser.

Chili Cook Off Luncheon

Members of the Trinity University Women’s Club treated the men’s and women’s basketball teams to a Chili Cook Off luncheon on Jan. 2 in the Fiesta Room. The teams were on campus during the holiday break and enjoyed the “competition” as a welcome change from their limited dining options. Claire Smith, executive coordinator in the President’s Office and president of the Women’s Club, suggested the idea and spearheaded the event.

Bid Day

Fraternities and sororities at Trinity issued bids to new actives on Feb. 8, concluding annual Spring Rush on campus. This year, Bid Day occurred without alcohol and concluded with Greek members gathering at the Miller Fountain to await the arrival of new actives who were then tossed into the cold fountain water to signal their acceptance of a bid to join their preferred Greek organization. Pictured are members of two sororities having fun on Bid Day 2008.

Martin Luther King Jr. March

For several years, Trinity students, faculty, staff, and friends have boarded buses to march in the annual Martin Luther King Jr. March through a three-mile stretch of San Antonio’s East Side. It is one of the largest marches in the nation, and Trinity usually has one of the largest collegiate contingents in the march. Trinity organizers like to consider the holiday a day “on” and not a day “off” to remember the work and struggles of the slain civil rights leader.

Trinity students join David Tuttle, Becky Spurlock and her daughter Madeline as they board the bus to the march.
