An explanation of the registration procedure for 1000 and 2000 level Religion Department courses.

Our lower level courses are capped at 25 students. However, if we let the registration process run its course, most, if not all of the spots would be filled by seniors and some juniors. This creates several problems for the department, the most serious of which is the effect on enrollment in our upper division courses since many of them require 1000- and 2000-level courses as pre-requisites.

In hopes of achieving a more even distribution of classes in our 1000- and 2000- level courses, we have opted for the following procedure:

All of our 1000 and 2000 level courses are initially capped at 10 students. Once registration is over, individual professors then fill out the remaining 15 spots from the waitlist.

What does this mean for you? If you are interested in an 1000- or 2000-level Religion course that is filled by the time you register, get on the waitlist.
