Your Resident Mentor
Resident Mentors (RMs) are carefully selected and extensively trained upperclass leaders (sophomore, junior or senior) who work as paraprofessionals on the Residential Life Staff. Their primary role is to support a small group of
about 18 first year students, building a fun, healthy and respectful community among your neighbors. Your RM will guide you through New Student Orientation (NSO) all the way to the end of the year.
During NSO, you will register for classes for the first time, and your RM will assist you and your faculty advisor in that process. Your group will get to know one another well as you go through all the programs designed to get you well acquainted with campus.
Throughout the fall semester, your RM will host
fun activities to break from studying and get to know other
students. Your Resident Mentor group will also discuss the ups and downs of college life: staying healthy, getting along with your roommate, doing well in college classes and making choices about relationships and alcohol.
Take time to get to know your RM. He or she will be one person you know you can trust to look out for your best interests and encourage you to take positive risks. RMs know you may make mistakes and sometimes have to hold you accountable to campus policy, but they will also help you learn from those experiences.
Your first year is a time of significant independence from life at home. Your RM is there to help make Trinity feel like home, too.
Meet the 07-08
Resident Mentors!
