2009 Undergraduate Researchers
- Gareth Jones
Trinity University is one of several ACS participants in a Mellon Foundation grant to develop and share new laboratory projects in observational astronomy for non-science majors. The labs will focus on analysis and interpretation of data collected by the students themselves. Lab “modules” written at each institution, along with the student data, will be shared with all participating schools. This will allow each institution to take advantage of approaches and facilities unique to the others, which will provide especially rich and diverse lab experiences for non-science majors.
The ideal candidate would be a Physics Major who has some experience in observational astronomy with small optical telescopes.
Housing will be provided for six weeks.
