Summer Housing

Many participants in the summer research program opt to live in campus residence halls. In 2009, students will be housed on the second and third floors of Winn Hall.

Students who are working under the auspices of an externally-funded grant may be eligible for free housing. Limited additional housing is available at a rate of $118 per week.

Social and enrichment events will be planned throughout the summer. A schedule of these events will be posted to the program calendar and Facebook group.

Residence Hall Move-in

Check-in for research students will begin on Sunday, May 24th from 1 – 5:00 pm in the Witt Center. Students requiring special accommodations (e.g. for after-hours arrivals) should contact Residential Life well in advance to make arrangements to pick up keys.

Please note that Monday, May 25 is a university holiday. Students arriving on Monday must make arangements to pick up their keys at the Campus Safety office by emailing Residential Life.

For those of you arriving from other institutions, a campus map can be accessed on the campus tour website. If you are unfamiliar with Trinity residence halls, please consult the Residential Life FAQ page.

Residence Halls must be vacated by August 1.

Meals & Groceries

Trinity does not offer a summer meal plan. The Commons will be open from 8 AM to 2 PM Monday through Friday, except for the May 25th and July 3rd holidays.

Each dorm room is equipped with a Microfridge unit (microwave, freezer, refrigerator). Additional microwaves and refrigerators are not permitted. There is a kitchen for student use on the third floor of Winn Hall.

The Office of Academic Affairs will offer some limited assistance with transportation to local grocery stores, beginning on May 27. This service is available on a first-come-first-served basis. If you would like to sign up for a ride, please email Claudia Scholz.

Temporary Storage

Storage for student belongings will be available on the 1st floor of McLean Hall from May 5 to June 2 and from July 31 to the beginning of fall classes.

If you wish to make use of this space, please visit the Witt Center to have your ID card programmed to open the storage room door. Witt Center staff will also explain where the room is located.

Note that the storage space is only available to students actually living in the residence halls during summer and fall.

Trinity University is not responsible for lost, stolen or damaged items left in storage.

Campus Parking

If you are leaving your car on campus between spring and summer sessions, Campus Security recommends parking your car in the Prassel garage. Please do NOT leave any valuables in your car.

Non-Trinity students bringing cars to campus will have to obtain a parking permit for a pro-rated fee of $29.50. More information about parking is available on the Campus Safety website.

Medical and other emergencies

Summer Resident Advisors for 2009 are Cece Wilbanks (Room 324) and Amanda Benbow (Room 239.)

Students are advised that they may not work alone in labs after-hours. All students working after regular business hours must have a partner or mentor present.

Medical and other emergencies should be reported immediately to the office of Campus Safety

Students working on campus during the summer are asked to register their cellphone numbers on the TrinAlert system in order to receive emergency broadcasts.

Nurses are available Monday-friday 8AM - 5PM at Trinity's Health Services office. Students requiring a physician's care or laboratory tests should make off-campus arrangements. The following local clinics provide after-hours and walk-in services.
