Residential Life Programs and Activities

The Residential Life Office offers a variety of programs to facilitate interaction among residents across campus and in individual residence halls.

 Some major programs offered:

 Hallympics

This tournament involves all 16 residence Halls in four coed sports (basketball, football, volleyball, and walleyball). Games are played during the week after Labor Day and conclude the following "Championship Sunday." Co-sponsored with the Intramural Office, this annual event involves several hundred residents competing for intramural t-shirts, spirit awards, and campus bragging rights.

TU Steppin’

This annual event, co-sponsored with the Student Activities Office and the Trinity Roper country dance troupe is held at an off campus venue and features country dancing, instruction, and exhibitions by the Ropers.

Trinity Night at the Spurs

As many as 1,000 students, faculty, and staff have gone to the Alamodome to watch the San Antonio Spurs NBA basketball team. For ten years, this program has taken place in the Spring and is the largest single off campus program at Trinity University. The Spurs Coyote makes a visit to campus and even wears a Trinity t-shirt on game night to fire up the Tiger/Spur crowd.

Other Programs

The department has sponsored midnight breakfasts, tailgate parties, SmartStart educational programs for first year students, and outdoor concerts. The Fall Celebration includes a hayride around campus prior to Thanksgiving.

In addition…

The Residential Life staff members in the halls (Resident Assistants) plan and implement numerous programs, including broomball games, trips to the Dragons IHL hockey games, movies on campus television Tiger TV, study breaks with pizza, tacos, and other food, and shopping trips or trips to the Riverwalk. Resident Assistants also encourage support of University lectures, athletic events, concerts, and plays by organizing group attendance.
