The Trinity Elects 2000 program is a series of events open to the entire Trinity University campus. In addition, one residence hall floor (third floor Herndon) has been designated as a special political interest theme floor.

The program has been set-up to take advantage of the educational lessons provided in an election year at our residential campus setting.

The goals of Trinity Elects 2000 are:

  • To bring faculty members and students together in the residence halls to discuss topics and issues in an informal environment. While much of the learning on campus takes place in the classroom, this program provides opportunities to extend the educational experiences to other venues on campus, particularly in the residence halls where most Trinity University students live.
  • To provide students with opportunities to learn from one another and faculty members by offering regular and informal opportunities to express similar and diverse opinions on subjects related to the election.
  • To encourage students to be informed about the world beyond the campus walls; to consider and encourage further academic pursuits in this area; and to create well-rounded and involved citizens of the world.

Trinity Elects 2000 is a collaborative effort between Student Affairs and Academic Affairs, with the support of the Association of Student Representatives, Trinity Activities Council, College Democrats, College Republicans, KRTU, and Tiger TV.
