NEW STUDENT ORIENTATION MOVING FORWARD...

Despite the inclement weather, it is our plan to move forward with the New Student Orientation schedule as it stands.  With that said, our priority is for you to arrive here safely so please use your best judgment regarding your personal travel plans.  If you arrive outside the schedule 8am-1pm check-in time, please go to the Witt Center to pick up your room key and join us for NSO activities as soon as you can.

If weather conditions do cause the need for the New Student Orientation schedule to be adjusted, we will communicate the changes through your Resident Mentor.

If you have any questions, please contact Ben Newhouse at ben.newhouse@trinity.edu or 210-999-7547.

See you soon!

Professional Interest Groups

If your academic and/or career interests match any of the disciplines below, attend these meetings for important information.

Business Administration/Accounting
(Bell Athletic Center 125)

Learn the answers to these questions:  What courses in Business Administration need to be taken during a student’s first year?  What are the different areas of Business Administration in which students can “concentrate”?  What are the core business courses that all Business Administration majors have to take?

Computer Science
(Halsell 340)

Computer Science is the systematic study of algorithmic processes that describe and transform information. Such study includes the theory, analysis, design, efficiency, implementation and application of algorithms. The Computer Science Department provides a state of the art foundation of principles, skills, knowledge and creativity for the development of liberally educated computer scientists of the highest quality. The Computer Science program is designed to provide an appropriate mix of current technology and theory as well as challenge the majors to think critically and communicate effectively.

Education
(Racquetball Courts)

This is an opportunity to meet professors informally, hear a brief description of course offerings and suggestions for course planning, and ask questions about programs, including the five year Master of Arts in Teaching program.

Engineering
(Moody Engineering Building 322)

This meeting will introduce students to the Engineering Science Department.  Topics to be discussed include the engineering profession, the Engineering Science curriculum, academic activities, summer internships, and job opportunities with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Science.

Health Professions
(Science Lecture Hall)

The meeting for students interested in the health professions serves several purposes: 1) to provide information about what courses to take in the first semester, 2) to discuss admission requirements of health professions' schools, 3) to present strategies for developing a track record that will lead to admission to health profession graduate programs, and 4) to create an information network that will be useful for Trinity pre-health professional students.  Bring your questions and concerns to this working meeting.

Pre-Law
(Racquetball Courts)

Law school applications have increased dramatically over the past two years, and the competition for admittance is very high.  While law schools are not concerned with specific majors, they do place a great deal of emphasis on the overall performance of applicants including internships, work experience, community service, evidence of a commitment to law, intellectual discipline, analytical skills, research and writing skills, oral skills, and time management.  Dr. John Hermann will address these issues and suggest strategies for successful applications to law school.
