Computer
Skills Test
The Computer Skills Test covers the seven skills
designated in the Common Curriculum:
- Introduction to Computing (hardware,
software,
files, and formats).
- Computers
and Text (the uses of word processing software).
- Computers and Numbers
(quantitative analysis using spreadsheet software).
- Computers and
Information Retrieval (structuring
and retrieving data using database software).
- Computers and Graphics
(visualizing and illustrating data using graphics software).
- Computer Communications
(using Local Area Networks, electronic mail, and the
World Wide Web).
- Computer Ethics
(issues of privacy and the legal use of software and data).
The
format for the test is multiple choice. Students will have ample time to
complete the test and should read each of the questions very carefully.
The passing
score is
determined by the overall results so that approximately half
of the
class will place out
of the Computer Skills Requirement.
