Sophomore College

Students moving into Sophomore College (Prassel, Thomas, and North Halls) may check in at the Witt Center starting at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 23.  The Witt Center will be open from 8:30 a.m. until 10 p.m. and check-in will continue through Friday, August 29. Classes begin on Thursday, August 28.

Juniors

Juniors may move into the residence halls beginning on Sunday, August 24.  The Witt Center will be open for key distribution from 8:30 a.m. until 10 p.m. Sunday through Friday, August 29. Classes begin on Thursday, August 28.

Seniors

Move in date for Seniors is Monday, August 25.  The Witt Center will be open from 8:30 a.m. until 10 p.m. every day that week for check-in.

The only students permitted to return early are fall athletes who must practice to be ready for their early-starting seasons and those whose services are essential to opening the campus (such as RA's, RM's, and Orientation Team). In order to accommodate our returning students, the Residential Life Office opens the residence halls on a weekend day (for family travel purposes) and allows for four days to arrive to campus.  Given that, we ask that you not request to arrive earlier than that time, as such requests will be denied.  Please allow the staff to focus on checking in new students and the start of New Student Orientation.  We appreciate your cooperation!

Yearbook Pictures

O'Neal Studios will be on campus August 22 and September 9-10 to take yearbook pictures. Mark your calendars, and don't forget to order a 2009 Mirage when paying fall tuition via E-Bill/E-Pay.

What Are You Plugged Into?

The Student Involvement Fair, sponsored by Campus & Community Involvement, has a new location and time.  We’ll still see you on the first Friday of classes, August 29 but his year, the Student Involvement Fair will be a pre-event, 6:30 p.m. – 8ish, held at the Welcome Back Concert at E.M. Stevens Stadium. Student organizations and University staff will share with you a wide variety of involvement opportunities.  Stop by the fair to see what you can plug in to.  Call (210) 999-7547 to reserve a table for your student organization.

Are you a member of TU LeaderTalk?

If not, register now at tuleadertalk@lyris.its.trinity.edu. Set up to facilitate student organizations as they plan, promote, and discuss their events.  It’s quick ‘n easy and one of the many services CCI provides for you!

Calling all student leaders – past, present and future

Are you a member or officer of a student organization?  A critical piece to activating a student organization is to annually register officers, a process that ensures an organization’s active status on campus.

What constitutes an active organization?  Student Affairs has three requirements that must be completed every year: 1) turning in the Student Organization Officer List, 2) attending orientation and training sessions, and 3) signing the Anti-Hazing Statement.  Student organizations that have faculty or staff advisors must have their advisor sign the Officer List indicating their awareness as advisor. When organization information is complete for the relevant academic year, that organization is considered to be active, which means your organization will be in the loop on important information plus receive access to all our services.

Some of the benefits of active status include: promotion on the CCI Web page, reservation of University facilities, invitations to the fall and spring Involvement Fairs, and subscription to TULeaderTalk (a listserv for student organizations).  Plus, you’ll get access to the Student Organization Resource Center located in the lower level of the CUC, west wing, where you can make paper banners, access software for making publicity, and check your organizational mailbox.

In order for CCI to maintain and distribute accurate information, organizations must report officers within three weeks of the beginning of fall classes. Fall 2008 deadline is Friday, September 12. After that time, CCI will work to update student organizations as time allows but within 30 business days.  Of course, CCI welcomes new officer info soon after an organization holds elections – even during the spring semester.

If you’re uncertain about your organization’s status, please call CCI staff at 210-999-7547.  We’re available to help you ensure your organization’s success.  If you want to register your organization’s officers this summer, pick up an Officer List in our office or request one via e-mail at mfarris@trinity.edu.

Stay tuned and stay connected with CCI’s play list of opportunities.

Mail Center

Mail Center - Repeat Notice to all Students Living Off-Campus

Attention all students living off-campus this year! In the past, the Mail Center has provided students with a campus mailbox throughout their college career regardless of whether they lived in the residence halls or off-campus.  However, in doing so, the Mail Center has been unable to provide a campus mailbox to all incoming students in both the fall and spring semesters.  Additionally, the Mail Center has noticed that many campus mailboxes occupied by our off-campus students are not checked regularly; and therefore, critical information and mail that is sent to them from campus departments or from outside entities are not received.

With this in mind, the Mail Center will no longer provide a campus mailbox to those students electing to live off-campus.  Mail forwarding for all students will still be provided; thus, the Mail Center requests that students provide an accurate forwarding address (preferably your new off-campus address) to the Mail Center and the USPS.  Mail forwarding forms were sent to your campus mailbox last April and are also available at the front window of the Mail Center.

This policy does not apply to students that are participating in a study abroad or internship program.  Your campus mailbox will be held for the extent of your program until your return to Trinity.  Please make sure to provide mail forwarding information during your time away from Trinity.

Tiger Card Office

Tiger Card Expands Off Campus Vendor Choices

After another successful year, the popular Off Campus Merchant/Tiger Card Program continues to grow. Check the frequently updated list of off campus vendors on the www.tigerbucks.com Web site to see all of the new vendors who have joined the program and will accept Tiger bucks for 2008-2009. Be sure to visit your favorite off campus vendor at “Taste of Trinity” on the Esplanade on August 25 and check the Web site frequently as new vendors are constantly being added to the program. The Off Campus Tiger Card Program is the result of an ongoing partnership between ASR and the Tiger Card Office. Contact your ASR representatives with suggestions for new vendors that you would like to see added to the Off Campus Tiger Card Program.

At this time, FWS and Institutional Employment Agreements will be distributed to all returning student employees. Please be sure to pick up and complete this form before you begin work.  Never worked before on campus?  New student employees will need to complete a W4 and an I9 form in order to interview for a position.  When completing the I9 form, per law, you will be required to attest that you are a citizen or national of the U.S., a lawful Permanent Resident, or an alien authorized to work.  All new employees are required to produce documentation to show proof of identity and work authorization in the United States. Click here for an I9 form.
