Dia del Tigre

ParentTalk members pictured are (seated) Rose White, Don and Anita Combs, Debbie Tresca, (standing) David and Theresa Harrington, and Gary Dzierlenga. This is one of many groups (The Woodlands) of Trinity parents that has met - or will be meeting - around the country as part of the annual Dia del Tigre (Day of the Tiger) receptions. This program was started by ParentTalk list-serv participants several years ago as a way to meet and bond over their common connection as parents and guardians of current Tigers. Reception locations include Houston, Beijing, Missouri, San Francisco, and more.

Hot Professions for 2009
Even with a recession in full swing there are definitely opportunities out there for new graduates.  According to Yahoo! Hot Jobs here are some of the fields that will continue to be better than average:

Auditor
Career Counselor (no, really this is on the list)
Counselor
Public Relations
Health Care Technician
Mechanical Engineer (all engineering fields)
Networking/System Administrator
Nurse
Software Designer/Developer

In addition to these there are still other opportunities.  Some of the biggest corporate growth out there is with companies listed as part of the Inc 5000.  Small to medium size companies.  They may not have the big names that some graduates are looking for but the potential for gaining experience and being part of something exciting is definitely there.  A great book that I often recommend is “What Color is Your Parachute.”  It explains how to tap into the “hidden job market” that is present no matter what the economic situation.

For past due items, they are offered simply for information. By policy, students are responsible for information sent to them through e-mail, which serves as an official Trinity University communication tool -- because all students are assigned accounts.
