Just ducky

A couple visitors from Brackenridge Park - just across the highway - stopped by this week to enjoy the Trinity campus. Perhaps a mascot change is in order...

This is the last scheduled newsletter of the semester. There may be some communications over the summer, though it will be minimal. On behalf of all of the faculty and staff members at Trinity University, it is an honor and privilege to work with your sons and daughters. We hope that you and your families have a safe and healthy break and that you are able to spend some time with your students.

Hawaii, Texas

Trinity staff members as well as the Alumni Sponsor for the Class of 2012 prepare for the onslaught as over 500 students descended upon Mabee Hall on Tuesday night for the Luau-style midnight breakfast study break for our students. This was the first time the event was held in the spring and is in addition to the annual fall event. Wanda Olson and the Residential Life team hosted and sponsored the event.

Crisis? What Crisis?

Members of the Trinity Crisis Management Team met regularly during the peak-period of concern during the ongoing swine flu H1N1 epidemic. The team understands the importance of strong communication with parents. Team-crafted messages were sent out to this subscription list and continue to be posted on the web page. Please continue to check for regular updates. Read more about how the CMT managed the situation and vote on the associated poll.

New Feature for Parents!

The Student Affairs Office formerly produced hard-copy calendars and newsletters for all parents. In the past year we have moved more toward electronic communications in order to manage costs, be environmentally friendly, and be able to send more regular and current communications to families.

This year the staff is offering a small poster for families to print for household bulletin boards or refrigerators. It is available on the Trinity Parent Web page. You may simply print a copy for the home and/or office to keep handy dates and contact information on hand. This was produced by Campus Publications Advisor Katherine Martin.

We hope this proves to be convenient for you. Any updates to the calendar will be sent through this newsletter in the future. (And yes, it does say "June 1" on this inaugural version - Ms. Martin likes to work ahead.)

Smooth Sailing

- Residence hall students can avoid headaches and fines by leaving rooms clean and empty as well as by turning in keys to appropriate staff members.

- There is no on-campus storage during the summer. Click here for a list of facilities compiled by the Residential life Office.

- Only students who are approved to return early (campus groups preparing for new students or fall athletes - and debaters) may arrive before the scheduled time. Exceptions exist for students who have siblings moving in as new students. Please respect the move-in schedule as it allows several days, including weekend days, for students to come back to campus.

Micro Mail

This section features e-mails that were sent to all students since the last TrinitE newsletter. Parents are invited to micro-manage their students into reading this important information. For past due items, they are offered simply for information. By policy, students are responsible for information sent to them through e-mail, which serves as an official Trinity University communication tool -- because all students are assigned accounts. (Click on each heading to read the full e-mail.)
