Subject: Honoring Trinity Student Emma Hutchinson

Dear Students and Colleagues,

Almost exactly a year ago, Trinity student Emma Hutchinson lost her lifelong battle with polycystic kidney disease (PKD), and I write to ask your support in honoring her memory.

Every autumn, the San Antonio chapter of the PKD Foundation hosts a Walk for PKD in Brackenridge Park, and we hope that Trinity’s Team Emma (captained by Trinity students Paige Ottoson and Jessica Knight) will be a particularly strong presence at this year’s event.  Please consider joining us on September 19th, 2009, or making a monetary donation in support of our walkers, who will include Emma’s parents and grandmother.  The last is a San Antonio resident who donated a kidney to then two-year-old Emma, who would have been a senior in 2009-2010.

Attending Trinity was, in many ways, the highlight of Emma’s twenty years, and she, in turn, was a real asset to our community: a dedicated student, an active organizer, and a generally life-affirming, life-loving presence on campus.  To register, donate, or learn more about San Antonio’s Walk for PKD, please visit http://www.pkdcure.org/GeoPages/SanAntonioWalkforPKD/tabid/1287/Default.aspx.  If you would like additional information about Emma or the Walk experience, please don’t hesitate to contact me at btontipl@trinity.edu.

Thanks so much,
