Subject: Welcome...soon you'll be here! A message from your class marshal and alumni sponsor

Dear Class of 2012 – Now Sophomores!

Dave Mansen, your alumni sponsor, and I are eagerly awaiting your return to Trinity!  We started planning for your return in June, when we met with Dean Tuttle to talk about our first year experiences (and yours!) and also look ahead to year two.  We even made the Dean’s blog!  (see July 2 entry) and here’s our pic from that day!

Then, this week, closer to your arrival, Dave and I met with the Sophomore College Resident Mentors on Tuesday afternoon during their Res Life Training in the new Lightner Tea Room (super view, new furniture, and best of all super people, led by Cally Chenault and Katie Storey in Res Life).  The RMs got us really excited about the Sophomore College events that will kick off your return to Trinity!  And there is great news from that area of the res halls, including a newly improved Prassel patio… read and see more on the dean’s blog: http://trinitydean.blogspot.com/  I love how far Trinity has come since I was a sophomore – you are going to really benefit from all of the thinking and work put into the Sophomore College experience and events!

So now we can’t wait until….

·         Saturday when you move in – you can check into the Witt Center anytime between 8:30 am and 10:00 pm

·         Sunday when we have a Sophomore College BBQ on the Prassel lawn (Dave and I will be sporting new polos thanks to Dean Tuttle…so look for two matching people in white Trinity polos – nearly same as pic above!

·         Monday, when we have the Sophomore College Conference – fortunate for you, the RMs gave me great advice as to what would be helpful advice for you!

·         And all of the Welcome Week events!  This year’s theme is “Live Long and Prosper” – and you can find the full schedule of events at http://www.trinity.edu/departments/cci/WelcomeWeek09.pdf  There are more events than what I mentioned – some occur way after my bedtime! J

This is going to be a great year - we hope you’re excited and ready for what’s to come!  Send us thoughts and ideas for what you’d like to see this year – not only from us but from Trinity – we’re ready to help you shape this second year to be all it can be!  And send any questions you might have as you get ready to return – we’re always here to help get you the answers you need or put you in touch with the right people!

With eager anticipation for your return,

Dr. Breidenstein with Dave Mansen
