Andrew Bacevich is known as an authority on American
foreign policy and is the author of several books on the
subject including
The Limits of Power: The End of American Exceptionalism.
He confronts fundamental questions that Americans have
been avoiding since the collapse of the Soviet Union and
the end of the Cold War. Dr. Bacevich is able to place
current politics in historical context, enlivening the
current debate, and turning eyes toward the best path
for the future of America and the world.
Underwritten by the William and Salomé Scanlan
Foundation, the Maverick Lecture is an
annual lecture that honors the late Maury Maverick Jr.,
the legendary civil rights
lawyer, former member of the Texas Legislature, and
iconoclastic newspaper
columnist. The lecture series explores topics that
defined Maverick’s place in American
civic discourse.
