Subject: What is Fiesta? A note from Alumni Sponsor

For all of you that are new to San Antonio, I wanted to be sure that you knew that Fiesta, our biggest celebration of the year, is going on this week. There are tons of events, parades, parties and special events scheduled all through the week.  Like the rodeo, for the local population Fiesta is something that people look forward to every year. Events include the Taste of New Orleans, which is happening across the street this weekend, Night in Old San Antonio, College Night, and the Oyster Bake at the St. Mary’s campus. For students, college night is pretty popular, but pretty crowded. If you go, remember the same old safety rules: stay with a group, don’t drink too much, don’t drive drunk, and don’t ride with a person who has been drinking.

Here is the Fiesta website for you…. www.fiesta-sa.org. Don’t be surprised if friends from your hometown ask to come visit you this weekend for the final big parades. Many schools (not colleges) are closed during the biggest parade this coming Friday. Last year we did several events, but we went to the Charreada Mexican rodeo south of town for the first time, which was a lot of fun.  We have Colorado friends visiting us this year for Fiesta so we will be downtown a lot! Have fun, be safe, and maybe we will see some you out and about!
