Subject: ASR Issues Update and Recyclemania Week 1 Results!

Trinity Students,

Week One of Recyclemania is over and we're doing pretty well so far, but we still have a long way to go!  Check out the message below mine to find out more about it.

I also wanted to take this opportunity to update you on some of ASR's accomplishments and goals so far this semester:

- Breakfast in Heidi Lounge.  This joint venture between ResLife, ASR, and Dining Services has now become permanent!

- Installing a disc golf course on campus.

- Establishing cooking lessons with Dining Services Director Miguel Ardid.  These classes have been approved and will be held after Spring Break.

- Election and campaigning reform, including the ability for study-abroad students to receive candidate information and confidentially cast votes.  Details on these changes are currently being finalized and will be implemented for this year's elections.

- Establishing the USA Today Collegiate Readership Program as a permanent fixture on campus.  Funding has been provided for this semester's newspapers by Academic Affairs, ASR, Student Affairs, and the Student Finance Board.

Updates on these and all our other ongoing projects will be provided throughout the semester.  And although we have a number of issues not listed here that we are working on, we would still like to know what we can do for you.

So please send me anything you want to be heard and I'll make sure it gets passed on to the Senate.  Questions, suggestions, compliments, complaints, or even a favorite joke or recipe - anything and everything is appreciated.  We want to hear from YOU!

Have a safe and happy Valentine's Day weekend,

Adam

Hello Fellow Trinity Students!

Recyclemania is well under way and the attached sheet includes the national results and has Trinity’s results to compare.  As you can see, some of our numbers need to be lower and others are making good progress.  I encourage you to look at this chart to figure out what exactly our role is in this competition.  The whole point of Recyclemania is to MINIMIZE our waste overall, but at the same time INCREASE what we recycle.

I just wanted to remind everyone to continue to recycle, and please be aware of contaminating the recycling bins.  If a designated recycling bin contains even one foreign object (such as food trash, etc.) then it must be thrown away and it cannot be recycled.  This leads to the school needing to spend more money to properly dispose of our waste (which excludes recycled materials) which in turn comes out of the same budget for dorm maintenance and fun things like that.  Therefore, please be away of which bins are designated for recycling, and avoid contaminating these receptacles.

Recyclemania officially ends on March 28th so keep an eye out for further updates on our status in the competition!  As always, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle!
