Trinity Students,
First off, welcome back! I hope everyone had a safe, relaxing, and fun winter break.
The following is a message from SOS (Students Organized for Sustainability) about RecycleMania. Your primary motivation to participate should be the warm, fuzzy feelings you get from recycling, but if that isn't your cup of tea, there are prizes for the top-scoring residence halls!
So with that said, I also wish you all luck in the upcoming semester! Make it a meaningful one.
Thanks,
Adam

Hello All!
Trinity is currently registered to participate in campus wide waste minimization in the competition division of RecycleMania. RecycleMania is a nation-wide, 10 week event (January 18th - March 28th) in which Trinity will compete against other colleges and universities in our athletic division. To make things a bit more interesting, there will also be a friendly competition between residence halls.
By participating in RecycleMania, Trinity shows its dedication to the Presidents Climate Commitment and creates positive publicity for the school (especially if we can beat last year's ranking of 5th place). On top of this, there will be prizes for the least wasteful residence hall with the most avid recyclers.
In order to make Trinity's RecycleMania efforts successful, SOS (Students Organized for Sustainability) would like to keep the entire campus community informed and engaged. I urge you to challenge yourselves and those around you to Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle!
RecycleMania encourages waste minimization and here are a few tips to make this possible:
-Ditch the paper
towels and napkins. Use cloth napkins, towels, and sponges instead.
-Instead of buying water bottles every day, save
some green and use your ASR /TUVAC nalgenes or purchase your own.
- Donate still useful items to charitable groups
- Buy products with minimal packaging
- Say no to plastic bags if it’s a smaller
purchase. Better yet, bring your own reusable bag.
- Use plastic bags you already have as garbage
bags.
- At the pub – consider draught beers (the casks
and kegs are refilled and can last for 30 years).
- buy products that are reusable rather than
disposable: razors, rechargeable batteries, etc.
- only print when you really need to
- Recycle your inkjet cartridges
