Subject: Coming soon--a new library search system
I am very happy to announce the upcoming launch of the library’s new online catalog!
After many months involved in the review and selection process, and then undergoing the migration of our current catalog (what you know as “Quest”) into our new system, the new and vastly improved online catalog will be available on Tuesday, October 28th.
Aside from familiar online library catalog search options, we are also pleased to introduce a new, state-of-the-art search technology that will make finding what the library has to offer easier--and more engaging--than ever before (think Amazon.com).
The new web-based search engine will reveal content like media and e-books, suggestions of relevant new or frequently-circulated items, faceted search results for easily modifying queries, and, ultimately, pathways to relevant websites and library databases. Library patrons can access all this from a Google-like search box located at the library home page. Results will include cover images, where available, and more information about each item.
Whether searching on a subject or for a specific book, CD, or DVD, the new catalog and search options will help students, faculty, and staff find what they are looking for more easily than ever before.
