Dear Members of the Trinity Community,

I would like to invite you and your students, family, and friends to the 2008 DeCoursey Lecture to be given by Dr. Linda Buck, 2004 Nobel Laureate, on October 20, 7:30 p.m., in Laurie Auditoirum.

Dr. Buck is an investigator of the Howard Hughes Medical Institute, associate director of basic sciences at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, and affiliate professor of physiology and biophysics at the University of Washington.  Among the many awards recognizing her key insights into the mechanisms that underlie the sense of smell in mammals, Dr. Buck has received the Takasago Award for Research in Olfaction, The R.H. Wright Award in Olfactory Research, the Lewis S. Rosenstiel Award for Distinguished Work in Medical Research, the Perl/UNC Neuroscience Prize, and, in 2004, the Nobel Prize in physiology or medicine.  For more information see:  http://www.trinity.edu/departments/public_relations/news_releases/080924buck.htm
