Important Registration Information for Undergraduate Students

·         All continuing students are expected to register for Spring 2009 classes by November 21.  Those who do not register by this date for any reason (including holds) will be subject to late registration fees and must wait until January to register.

·         If a class you seriously want is “Closed” on TigerPAWS, put yourself on the E-Waitlist!!   Some departments/professors intentionally close their courses early in the registration cycle, even though seats may still be available, in order to reserve seats and use waitlists to determine who gets in.  So first and foremost, you must place yourself on the E-Waitlist for the desired class.  Next, contact the professor to explain why you need the course; waitlists in no way limit your ability to communicate with faculty!  If the professor agrees to allow you into the class, you must be on the waitlist before he/she can authorize your electronic permission to register.  The professor authorizes you to enroll by notifying his or her department secretary, who in turn electronically posts your permission on the E-Waitlist (pink slips are not needed!).  An email is sent automatically to your TU account notifying you of your permission to register from the waitlist.

·         If you are selected to enroll from an E-Waitlist, an announcement will be sent to your TU email account giving you a limited time to register yourself in the class.  Therefore, students must check their TU email accounts frequently throughout Registration and Add/Drop for “permission to register” notices.   If for any reason you miss the deadline to register from the waitlist, as stated in your email, your seat will be offered to the next student in line.

·         If you are on a waitlist and no longer want the class, PLEASE remove yourself from the waitlist ASAP to give your fellow students an opportunity to register. You would want them to do this for you, right?  Use the Manage My Waitlist option on TigerPAWS.

·         Pink slips are NOT used for classes using E-Waitlists.

·         E-Waitlists from November registration will remain intact for Add/Drop in January.

·         After registering or making any changes to your classes, click on My Class Schedule, confirm your courses and PRINT YOUR SCHEDULESave a copy for your records!  If the printout does not reflect your changes, the transaction did not complete and you must try again.

·         REMEMBER – Registration is a process.  It is usually not over when you first sit down to select classes.  The second week of registration is devoted to working through waitlists and schedule adjustments; hundreds of students add and drop classes.  And during a typical Add/Drop period in the first week of school, over a 1,000 students add themselves to about 2,000 classes, and 2,000 seats become available as students drop courses.  The bottom line:  don’t get discouraged if classes appear on TigerPAWS as closed or waitlisted when you first sit down to register.  Be patient, talk to instructors, and work through the process!

Please do not hesitate to contact us if you need help with registration.  And good luck!
