As a part of emergency/disaster planning, Trinity has established the following two emergency communication tools:
- The emergency email list - In the event of an emergency/disaster and campus network outage, campus email servers would also be down. An emergency email list has been created and is being hosted far off-campus so that email communications can be generated and received during an emergency of this nature. To subscribe to this list, send an email to subscribe-emergency@lyris.its.trinity.edu. Send the email from the address you would want to receive any emergency communications. For example: DO NOT send the “subscribe” email from a trinity.edu address, as you would be unable to access any messages while the Trinity network and servers are down. (For this reason, the system is set up to reject subscription to any trinity.edu email address.) You may register as many off-campus email addresses as you want, simply by sending an email to subscribe-emergency@lyris.its.trinity.edu from each email address. You do not need to type anything in the subject or body of the “subscribe” email.
- The website http://emergency.trinity.edu. This website is hosted far off-campus (half-way across the country) and will be used to communicate information in the event of an emergency/disaster and campus network outage. In the event of a large scale or campus-wide disaster, you should visit http://emergency.trinity.edu for current, vital Trinity information.
We strongly encourage students and their parent(s) or guardian(s) to register an off-campus email address with the Trinity emergency email list and to be aware of the Trinity emergency website.
