EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS

FOR TRINITY UNIVERSITY

FACULTY, STAFF, STUDENTS, and FAMILIES

The mission of the University with respect to emergency response is to safeguard the lives of faculty, staff, and students, and to lessen the extent of personal injuries that may occur in the event of an emergency or natural disaster. The University Crisis Management Team maintains the Trinity University Crisis Management Plan (Emergency Response Plan) which provides important information and actions to be taken in the event an emergency or natural disaster occurs within the University or the general area, and that may impact academic and other operations

In case of any type of campus emergency individuals making the discovery should first move to a safe location and then contact the Department of Campus Security (ext. 7000). The Department of Campus Security will contact and summon the necessary University and other resources required to contain and control the emergency.

Emergency Situation

During school hours emergency information is communicated by either a Fire Alarm (indicating the need to perform a Facility Evacuation) or by other Emergency Alerting Systems (i.e. VoIP telephone voice and/or text messages, mass email, webpage, a PA/Siren, etc.), communicating specific instructions (i.e. the need to perform a Shelter-in-Place). Communications with parents is typically conducted by personal telephone when necessary.
