Harry
Haines. You still can't help but grin every time he says "Howdy!"
|
There he is again...
where have you seen him before?
Was he that professor roaming around on the set of Caroline
in the City?
Maybe you spotted him cruising Sunset Strip with the top-down...
damn, the car alone was worth the look.
Or was he the one sipping martinis with the NBC execs up north?
So hip, so smooth.
A professional attitude like his, and you knew you were dealing
with a man who knew his stuff. A former radio station manager,
you're sure of it. No stranger to documentaries, either. The ideals
of a news reporter... the thoroughness of a CBS network researcher.
A B.S. from Southern Illinois University, no doubt, but his M.S.
and Ph.D. could only be from the University of Utah.
Something tells you to steer clear of his critique, but you can't
help but be drawn in by his research. The Viet Nam War... American
sitcoms... even pornography is worthy of a critical understanding
of cultural-media interaction.
Harry Haines. Courses in media studies, broadcast journalism, and
writing. But don't look in Burbank, New York City, or at the top
of a mountain in Utah. He's only in San Antonio, Texas.
