Searching by Subject Heading in Quest
Back to Comm 4395 Course Guide
Step
1) Try to identify which subject headings apply to your topic. Begin by typing
in a likely candidate into the Keyword Search box in Quest, and searching in:
Subject![]()

Step 2) This will bring up a list of titles. Now look these over, and choose one that most closely matches the subject area you are interested in. Click on the title to bring up the record.

3) Here you will find the subject terms assigned to that title. Click on the one
that looks most appropriate to your broader topic:


Step 4) Now you can browse the list of subject headings to see what other titles are under those headings, and to peruse those subject headings that have a narrower focus:

Step 5) Clicking on one of these will give you a list of all the titles in the library that are described by that subject heading.
