Biogeografía, Biodiversidad y Conservación de México - (first offering fall 2008)
Mexico is home to some of the highest levels of biodiversity and endemism in the world. This course exposes students broadly to the natural history of Mexico and the threats to the country’s biodiversity. The course offers an overview of the biogeography, ecosystems and hotspots of biodiversity of the country. A few key ecosystems, the organisms within them and the connections between humans, culture and landscape will be studied in depth. The course will also address national and international efforts to protect the biodiversity and natural resources of the country. Conducted in both Spanish and English. Prerequisite: Spanish 2302, or equivalent or consent of the instructor.
