Biol 1307: Biological Impacts and Issues

The biomedical revolution of this passing century has produced an enormous amount of technical information. This mass of knowledge is complex and difficult to relate to the "real world". The objective of the first 2/3's of this course is to select a number of biomedical topics that have social value and present them in a relatively simplified fashion. The topics are identified in the Syllabus for the course. During the last 1/3 of the semester, the topic will emphasize biological evolution and how this important process relates to cultural evolution of the human species. This later material will not deal with the popular debate between biological evolution and biblical creation (or the so-called “intelligent design” concept). Also, the later material will include substantial reading.  Prof. Espey normally has office hours on Tues, Wed, & Thurs afternoons.
