NOTE:  Try to be in lab (CLS #135) ~10 minutes before your scheduled time.

NOTE:  The Centrifuge is in CLS #156.  Get your tubes in and start as fast as possible.

NOTE:  It will be a long day if you visit too much during this lab exercise.

NOTE: After centrifugation, pipet 500 ml of supernatant fluid from your homogenate into a fresh tube that has been labeled for you.  Then, add 2.5 ml of distilled water to this 500 ml of supernatant.  Next, follow the radioimmunoassay procedure outlined in "Exercise #1" in the website instructions for this course.

 

NOTE:  During the 40-minute incubation at 37°C of your progesterone-assay tubes, you will perform the first steps of the prostaglandin RIA and then use the spectrophotometer to determine the absorbance (i.e., optical density) of your ovarian extract.
