    Research:
My research interests are in the area of capillary separations.

More specifically, capillary electrophoresis, capillary electrochromatography, and mass spectrometry.
Specific current projects involve the development of and fundamental studies of porous polymer monoliths for use in CEC,
I have a growing interest in the application of analytical methods to the analysis of art and artifacts.

New students interested in working in my lab should look here, too.
Click here for pictures of the research groups in the summer of
    1997, 1998, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006. 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011
Information of interest to my current research students is at: lab information

    Teaching:
My specialty is analytical chemistry, but there are a number of different courses that I  have taught.
Click here to see a list: courses taught

Courses for Departmental majors and other traditional Chemistry courses:
Advanced Analytical Methods 4242 (Spring 2011).
    Analytical Chemistry 3432 (Fall 2010).
Introduction to Analytical Methods (Fall '07).

    Chemistry courses for non-science majors:
The Chemistry of Crime 1301 (Fall '08).
The Chemistry of Art 1305 (Spring '09). Look here for a few pictures of lab activities
Chemistry for Studio Artists 2305 (Fall '10).
This course has a corequisite of Art 2305, Studio Art for Chemists.

First Year Seminar: Of Gods, Scientists, and Monsters. GNED 1300 (Spring '11).

Click here to access descriptions through the course catalog.

    Other Interests:
In 1982 and 1983 I served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Kenya where I taught secondary school.
I would be happy to talk with any students considering entering the Peace Corps after graduation.
Students interested in alternate career paths should look here!

In the past I have tried to organize Trinity students with dependents. This group is currently inactive.
But if you are a Trinity student with one or more dependents and are interested in making contact with
others in your situation, send me some email and we can try to revive the group.

I have a growing interest in the overlap between Chemistry and Art.

I have several articles and coauthored a booklet related to career issues at predominantly undergraduate institutions (PUI's).
These articles would be of particular interest to graduate students or postdoctoral associates considering careers at PUIs.
The references are listed in my vitae as other publications.

Go here to find my links or other computer based resources. Some sites are no longer functional. I will update soon-ish.
Students in my classes may find some useful information at either of these two locations.
Both professional and some fun links are listed.
I have started a page on 'Science in Fiction'. But it is very brief.
