Interview

Are there stereotypes that come along with being a police officer?

    * Yes, since we deal with death in our profession people see us as insensitive and cold.

Do you think other professionals that deal with death (morticians,  doctors, etc.) are stereotyped?

   * Definitely.  Morticians are seen as evil, morbid characters, like in a horror movie.  Doctors get categorized  as scientific machines who don't see people but instead just a body.  i think all professionals who deal with death are seen as cold and unemotional,  whether it's true or not!

Do you feel more comfortable or desensitized to death because of your work?

    * No, it's completely different when you are off duty.  In my personal life I can show my emotions because I'm not working, and it's really different when you actually know the person.  I don't think death is something one can really "get used to."
