The Major in Spanish
In order to be granted full acceptance for admission to a major in Spanish, a student
must have completed the 3301 course in Spanish with a grade of C or better.
The requirements for the degree of Bachelor of Arts with a major in Spanish are as
follows:
- The common curriculum
- Departmental requirements:
- Completion of 21 semester hours of advanced hours in Spanish,
including:
1. SPAN 3301
2. SPAN 3330 or 3331
3. SPAN 3332
- Completion of one of the following additional requirements:
1. Nine additional semester hours of advanced courses in Spanish; or
2. Three additional semester hours of advanced courses in Spanish, and at least six
additional hours of advanced courses in other departments, as approved by the major
advisor; or
3. The lower division courses, or the equivalent, and at least three semester hours of
advanced courses in a second foreign language.
The Minor in Spanish
The requirements for a minor in Spanish
are as follows: Completion of at least 18 semester hours, of which no more than 6 may be
lower division. A minimum of 12 hours toward the minor must be completed at Trinity.
The Honors Program in Spanish

The Department of Modern Languages and Literatures offers
an Honors Program in Spanish. The requirements for Honors in Modern Languages and
Literatures are the same as the university requirements. A full description of the program
is available in the departmental office.
