The Science Teaching Institute (STI) is a one-week curricular planning workshop offered to 20 S.A.I.S.D. 1st-5th grade teachers and sponsored by the Trinity University Howard Hughes Medical Institute grant. As a participant, you will:
- engage in science learning through inquiry guided by Trinity University faculty,

- learn about thoroughly researched strategies for engaging students in productive science learning and discussion,
|
- practice tailoring SAISD curriculum guide activities to best meet your particular students' needs

Each participant will receive $800 and 30 CPE hours for completion of the workshop. |
To apply to STI. Space is limited to 20 S.A.I.S.D. 1st-5th grade teachers. To be considered, complete the following steps:
We strongly support teams of two teachers from a given school/grade level to apply as we want to encourage collaboration and promote the use of the developed curricular unit across a grade level or department. Preference will be given first to teachers who have not attended previous STIs.
Selected participants will be notified by May 20, 2011.
Applications and principal recommendations are due by Thursday, April 21, 2011, 5:00 p.m.
