Off-Campus Neuroscience Research Opportunities

Trinity University has an established tradition of outstanding science programs that prepare science majors to enter and succeed in competitive graduate programs and other post-graduate careers. To ensure that science majors continue to be well-prepared, we are transforming undergraduate science education at Trinity University to emphasize interdisciplinary teaching and learning. The Howard Hughes Medical Institute has granted Trinity funding to implement four crucial elements in our overall plan:

1. systemic revision of the introductory curricula in biology, chemistry, mathematics, and physics so that it prepares students to bring skills from other disciplines to the study of biological systems;
2. fundamental change in science student culture so that students work together in interdisciplinary study and research groups;
3. establishment of undergraduate programs in scientific computation and in neuroscience; and
4. professional development of current faculty, future faculty, and high school teachers so that they are prepared to participate in interdisciplinary teaching and research.
