KRTU
Digital Upgrades & Studio Renovation Project
Multi-Track Recording Studio
In addition to On-Air and
Production Studios, KRTU also has a recording studio for live band
performances and recording. This studio had analogue equipment
capable of making high-quality recordings, but only in stereo 2-track.
Some of
the old equipment, including a radio tuner, compressor, and effects box.
Also note the new Telos node, installed prior to the full studio's
renovation.
The old
studio was rewired several times by several different engineers. The
result was obsolete wiring, but no documentation to clarify what was or
was not necessary. |
To renovate this studio,
we first had to remove all old wiring and equipment. This took place in
March 2008. |
| |
The updated studios look
much the same from a distance, but the rack equipment is all new, as is
the drastically reduced wiring, studio speakers, and computer system.
The old analogue sound board is still in place as of April 2008, but the
new board has just arrived and is awaiting installation.

KRTU's new 64-channel
digital multi-track recording board. With the already-completed
renovations and a software upgrade to ProTools, this board will create
KRTU's first professional Multi-Track Recording studio. Slated for
completion by June 2008, look for more KRTU live studio recording in the
months ahead! |
