Sweet Beats on KRTU is
where jazz the American art form meets the world, transcending borders and
politics to serve as a bridge across cultures and generations. Sweet Beats
begins at 3pm on Wednesdays with jazz from around the world, from the old
traditions to the new innovations, including European gypsy jazz, the French
avant-garde, Spanish flamenco jazz and more. In the second hour of Sweet Beats,
Latin Jazz is the focus. Hear a battery of master percussionists and some of
the best Latin Jazz musicians from around the world, following one sensual
rhythm with another. Your host is Melanie Cordell, inviting you to listen to
the revered giants of the last century, as well as today's young lions, historic
Caribbean and Brazilian ritual drumming, and modern urban soundscapes.
