Eligibility Requirements
Checklist for Eligibility:
- Full-time Trinity University student
- U.S. citizen or permanent resident
- Low-income, first generation college student and/or
- From an underrepresented group in graduate education
- Interested in attending graduate school
The McNair Scholars Program invites applications from Trinity University students representing all undergraduate majors. Students can meet the
eligibility requirements for the program in one of two ways:
1. First generation, low-income: Students whose parents or guardians did not
receive a bachelor’s degree (or if a student lived with just one parent,
if that parent did not receive a bachelor’s degree) and who meet specific
family income requirements
are eligible for the

2. Historically underrepresented groups: Students who belong to a group
historically underrepresented in higher education are eligible for the
program. This includes African Americans, Hispanics/Latinos, Native
Americans/Alaskan Natives, and Pacific Islanders/Hawaiian Natives.
