The Teaching and Learning Committee presents
The Syllabus: A Legal Contract or an Invitation to Learning?
A syllabus serves many
purposes. It can set the tone for learning for the semester, be a
planning tool for faculty, structure student work, help prevent
conflict, and provide our students with insight to our teaching
philosophy. A syllabus can also reflect what tools and information we
can provide students to help them learn.
Hosted by
TLC member Diane Persellin and featuring our special guests Angela Breidenstein (Education), David Ribble (Biology), and Ruben Dupertuis
(Religion), the February 1st TLC tea was a stimulating event. For
more information, including an annotated bibliography of further reading
as well as sample syllabi from Trinity faculty, visit the
TLC's TLearn page.
