Film and Fiction
Chair – Maguerite Barzun (930-2249)
Members meet for a movie and discussion of
each novel on the Tuesdays listed below. The meeting time is 10:00 a.m.; the
location will be the home of Genie Calgaard. All books selected are available
in paperback. Participants often lunch together after the movie.
October 13: "The ABC Murders," Agatha Christie (available in paperback) starring the inimitable Hercule Poirot.
November 10: "The Picture of Dorian Gray," Oscar Wilde. Wilde's only novel and a real shocker! It made one actor's career and ruined another's.
January 12: "Double Indemnity," James M. Cain. The original film is the first Film Noir ever produced in America.
April 13: "A Thief of Time," Tony Hillerman. A turning point in Hillerman's career and a fine tribute to the late mystery writer.
