Degrees: B.A., Physics & Astronomy, University of Pennsylvania, 1980
M.S., Astronomy, California Institute of Technology, 1984
Ph.D., Astronomy & Physics, California Institute of Technology, 1986

Post-Doctoral Work: 1986-1989, NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Pasadena, CA
1989, Max Planck Institute for Radio Astronomy, Bonn, Germany

Faculty Positions: 1989-1995, Assistant Professor of Physics, Trinity University
1995-2001, Associate Professor of Physics, Trinity University
2001-present, Professor of Physics and Astronomy, Trinity University

Courses: First-year Introductory Physics (Lecture and Lab, including Special Topics Lab in Second Semester), Electromagnetic Fields, Advanced Theoretical Physics, Astrophysics, Stellar & Extragalactic Astronomy, Observational Astronomy Lab (with NSF/ILI funding)

Research: My research is focused on quasars and active galaxies, primarily using arrays of radio telescopes to image the central cores of these objects at high resolution; visit http://www.nrao.edu for information on the Very Long Baseline Array (VLBA) and Very Large Array (VLA) instruments that we use in our research. Energy is transported from the vicinity of supermassive black holes in these objects via jets that feed immense lobes up to a million light-years distant. Numerous Trinity students have participated in this work, which has been funded by NASA, NSF, Research Corporation, AAS, CUR, and Pew. Results are published in The Astrophysical Journal and The Astronomical Journal.
