Patrick Keating is an assistant professor of Communication at Trinity University. He teaches courses in film studies and video production. He is the Chair of the Film Studies minor.

His areas of research and teaching include film history and style, Hollywood cinema, narrative theory, aesthetic philosophy, international cinema, cinematography, photography, and film noir.

He is the author of the forthcoming Hollywood Lighting From the Silent Era to Film Noir, published by Columbia University Press in the Film and Culture Series (2009).
